Animal Crossing: New Horizons has a plethora of bugs, ranging from scorpions and centipedes to butterflies and grasshoppers. And, as indicated, the game doesn't limit itself to insects, bringing spiders to the table — which are a bit different in terms of how you catch them.

As per Twinfinite, spiders are available on the islands in both the Northern and Southern hemispheres all year-round. Spiders are available to catch between 7:00pm and 4:00am. Further, unlike many bugs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, spiders cannot be caught out in the open. Rather, players will have to routinely shake trees in order to get a spider to fall out.

If a spider is in a tree that you shake, it will drop from a web at the top of a tree, leaving you to quickly grab it in its vulnerable state. So, while it is down, hurry and equip your bug net and catch the eight-legged creature before it gets away. Once you've lined up a shot, swing your bug net downward and hold up the spider in triumph.

As indicated, tree shaking won't always result in the reveal of a spider. Sometimes, a Bagworm will fall from a tree instead. And many times, shaking a tree will cause a branch to fall down, which can be used in the crafting process.

Once you have your spider, you can do a number of things with it. This includes donating it to Blathers at the museum. Or, you can sell the spider to Nook's Cranny. Selling it will net you 480 bells, though Flick will purchase it at 720 bells. Of course, Flick is just an occasional visitor, so if the extra 240 bells are worth it, you can put it on display in your horse until Flick's arrival.

As donations help to upgrade the museum, however, this may be your first priority should this be the first spider you've caught. Just be conscious of Blathers' bug problem. Suffice it to say, he isn't a huge fan.
