The time may soon come when fans of the Baldur's Gate series must gather their party and venture forth once more, as the developer of Divinity: Original Sin 2 is hinting that it's making the long-awaited third game in the series.

Larian Studios is the developer of the Divinity series, which dates all the way back to Divine Divinity from 2002. It was rumored in October 2018 that Larian Studios was developing Baldur's Gate IIIbut Brian Fargo, the founder of Interplay, stated on Twitter that the game was being made by a different company.

It seems that the debunking of the Baldur's Gate III rumors was false, as Larian Studios has updated its website with a logo showing three lines, indicating the number three. Twitter user Kunken is claiming that the HTML files of the website have lines of text referring to both the name Baldur's Gate III and Wizards of the Coast (via Kotaku).

The return of the Baldur's Gate series isn't too surprising, as there has been a lot of news relating to the games over the past year. The upcoming Dungeons & Dragons adventure is called Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus, while James Ohlen, a former designer for BioWare who worked on the Baldur's Gate series, released an adventure called Heroes of Baldur's Gatewhich was set between the events of the first two games. Ohlen was recently hired by Wizards of the Coast to be the lead designer of a brand new studio. The Baldur's Gate series (along with Neverwinter Nights) is also coming to consoles in the future.

The Baldur's Gate series managed to perfectly capture the essence of Advanced Dungeon & Dragons and still offers an amazing experience for those who love tabletop RPGs. Fans have waited a long time for a third game in the Baldur's Gate series and it seems as if the wait is almost over. The fact that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is also receiving a sequel means that it's a very good time to be a fan of older PC RPGs that are based on tabletop games.

E3 2019 is just around the corner, so it's possible that more information about a potential Baldur's Gate III could be revealed there.
