While future Mortal Kombat 11 players eagerly await this edition's finishing moves, the franchise is facing another kind of battle - containing leaks.

It looks like a fairly complete list of characters is circulating on forums and websites, so if you want to avoid spoilers for the upcoming game, now is a good spot to stop reading.

Naturally, the gaming community gets really excited when a long-standing franchise like Mortal Kombat gears up for a new release, but it's disappointing that there have been so many leaks that might spoil the fun for players who are looking for surprises.

However, do leaks actually create buzzkill? Popular franchises like Star Wars and Game of Thrones seem to be none the worse for fan speculation and possibly spoilers, and it's likely that Kombat will do as well as its predecessors as long as the gameplay is solid and innovative.

With that said, though, let's get to the leaks. Game Rant posted what seems to be a fairly complete list of characters:

  • Jacqui Briggs
  • Cetrion
  • Kano
  • Geras
  • Frost
  • D’Vorah
  • Baraka
  • Cassie Cage
  • Kung Lao
  • Kotal Kahn
  • Erron Black
  • Liu Kang
  • Scorpion
  • Sub Zero
  • Raiden
  • Kollector
  • Kabal
  • Jade
  • Skarlet
  • Sonya

Game Rant bases this list on a new image that appears to show all of the game's characters, even though not all of these have been officially announced. Also, not all the portraits were completed (even though there is text beneath them suggesting which character there might be). There also seems to little information about DLC, as there are eight empty slots that are likely for game updates.

However, there might still be some surprises for Kombat fans. The studio has been saying that it plans to bring a female character back, and the community suggests that this will be Kitana - a veteran of Mortal Kombat 2. She's been a fan-favorite and a critical success ever since her first appearance more than 25 years ago, so let's hope that she appears in the next iteration as well.

Mortal Kombat 11 is set to release on April 23, 2019 and will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
