Update: The Jolteon, Flareon and Vaporeon VMAX Premium Collections have now been confirmed for a North American release, where they will cost $39.99. It will contain more than the UK version, as it includes six booster packs and a metallic coin. The oversized card will also be an etched printing.

Original story:

Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon are finally getting their own alternate art V and VMAX Pokemon: Trading Card Game cards this December, after being skipped over in the recent Eevee-centric Evolving Skies expansion.

The first generation 'Eeveelutions' will each get their own Premium Collection VMAX box, which comes with full-art V and VMAX cards, an oversized VMAX print, five booster packs, and a collectable pin. Much like the others released in Evolving Skies, these cards show all three Pokemon exploring the world in their V cards, and comedically supersized versions of them in their VMAX art.

The news comes from Pokemon TCG retailer PlaySkape Games (via PokeGuardian), who claims that the boxes will be available in the UK from December 3 for £37.99 each. The Pokemon Company has yet to confirm either the date or price, either in the UK or internationally.

Jolteon, Vaporeon and Flareon VMAX Premium Collections

Despite Evolving Skies being an expansion with a big focus on Eevee and its evolutions, the original trio were the only ones not to receive their own full art alt-art. The V cards included in this box were in the Japanese Eevee Heroes expansion, on which Evolving Skies was based, but the VMAX cards were part of a lottery where only 3000 copies were given away.

The question to raise here is whether it is a good move to cut cards from Evolving Skies to sell them later on as their own product. On the one hand, complete Evolving Skies collections will be missing the three arguably most iconic of the Eeveelutions. It could also be argued that, by cutting the Kanto evolutions and selling them separately, that The Pokemon Company is attempting to cash in on nostalgia for the first generation of Pokemon.

On the other hand, having a box where the cards are guaranteed actually makes Jolteon, Flareon and Vaporeon V and VMAX more easily attainable. As opposed to cracking packs and hoping you pull a Sylveon VMAX alt-art at random, every Jolteon VMAX Premium Collection is guaranteed to have that exact card. Does that make up for their absence in Evolving Skies? Maybe, but this is going to sell like nobody's business either, so collectors will want to get on it as soon as they can..

Vaporeon VMAX, Jolteon VMAX and Flareon VMAX Premium Collections will launch on December 3 for £37.99 in the UK.
