The core game is a tribute to the 8-bit titles of old, while still feeling like a fresh experience. On top of that, the expansions have been received well by fans.
Shovel Knight is one of the indie games that has widespread appeal. The character has his own Amiibo, has appeared in crossovers, and is even an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Although the core Shovel Knight game has concluded with King of Cards, the developers have assured fans the franchise will be continuing.
