A fan-favorite character is about to make his way to Soulcalibur 6 as the final player to be added in the Season 2 Pass DLC. Master swordsman Hwang is set to arrive in the latest installment of the series this week along with some new features in an upcoming patch.

Hwang was a popular character introduced back in 1995 with the release of Soul’s Edge. Ever since then, he has been a playable character in games like Soulcalibur and Soulcalibur 3. It's been a while since players have had a chance to play as Hwang, due to the fact that he has only made cameos in recent titles. Hwang was replaced by Yun-seong in the three games following Soulcalibur 3.

Bandai Namco made the announcement on their YouTube page with a trailer showcasing the return of the “Secret Royal Blademaster,” a nickname for the famed fighter. The video displayed Hwang’s fresh new look that covers much of his face, but his prowess with a sword remains unchanged according to the fantastic visuals and some new moves. What truly stands out, however, are his signature kicks and the talismans he uses that appear to boost his abilities. The trailer also reveals his weapon name – Dark Thunder – and his fighting style known as the Longsword and Six Heavenly Arts.

Hwang joins the likes of Setsuka, Hilde, and Samurai Showdown’s Haohmaru as playable characters in the Season 2 Pass. The addition of Hwang to one of the best entries in the series should be a pleasant surprise for fans of the franchise – his return has been a long time coming. Other than Hwang, Soulcalibur 6 will also add some free new content, including a new stage called Motien Pass Ruins, classic costume parts for Seong Mi-Na, and more Create-A-Soul parts inspired by the Tekken series.

For anyone looking to play as Hwang, he will be available for purchase as a playable character in the Season Two Pass DLC on December 2.
